The University Grants Commision is one of the premier higher education accreditation bodies in India. All higher learning institutes in India must have UGC recognition to offer various courses, conduct exams, award degrees etc.
The National Assessment and Accreditation Council accreditation determines the question/ standard of education in higher learning institutes. An NAAC grade is mandatory for higher learning institutes to be eligible for various grants from the central or state government.
Technical institutes must have accreditation from the National Board of Accreditation for some of its courses. The NBA has the authority to determine the policies, rules and regulations for granting accreditation to courses offered by higher learning institutes.
The National Institutional Ranking Framework (NIRF) is a methodologyadopted by the Ministry of Education , Government of India, to rank institutions of higher education in India. The Framework uses several parameters for ranking purposes like resources, research, and stakeholder perception. These parameters have been grouped into five clusters and these clusters are assigned weightage accordingly.
