Our beloved founder Seth Roshan Lal Jain was born in the village of Khekra, in the district of Bhagpat in Uttar Pradesh, in 1917. Taking up his family’s ancestral Khadi business and being an honored scholar in Jain philosophy, it was no wonder that he was known as Seth Ji among his peers and followers. His emotional counterpart was Smt. Tarawati Jain, his wife, who endlessly supported his endeavour to start Jain institutions in Khekra. The couple was dedicated to spread ‘karuna’ or compassion towards human beings and all other living beings, while simultaneously having a vision to create institutions to enhance value based education.
The Seth Roshan Lal Jain Trust was established in the year 1998. The Trust currently runs two institutions under its umbrella, namely the College of Engineering Roorkee (COER) in 1998 and COER School of Management (COER-SM) in 2006. The campus is spread over an area of 75 Acres on Roorkee- Haridwar National Highway (NH-54), and COER has an affiliation with the Uttarakhand Technical University (UTU) and has been approved by All India Council of Technical Education (AICTE). COER-SM is also affiliated with UTU and Sri Dev Suman Uttarakhand University (SDSUU), in New Tehri, Uttarkhand. COER and COER-SM have gained a stellar reputation of being one of the best private engineering and management colleges in the North India.
On top of that, COER has been rated AAA by Career360 and has been conferred awards by many other ranking organizations. COER being run over 22 years and have 7200 plus sstudents with 100% placement.
On the other hand, COER-SM is now being upgraded as University of Engineering and Technology Roorkee (UETR), as it is a dream of visionary leader Sh J C Jain to make a world class university, unrivalled across the nation. The primary aim of UETR is to promote educating a new generation in a strong value system as well as transformation in technical and professional streams.
To honor the inspiring memory of Late Seth Roshan Lal Jain and Smt. Tarawati Jain, his son Shri Jinesh Chand Jain and his wife Smt. Sunita Jain created Seth Roshan Lal Jain Trust, which is dedicated to the spread of technical education in North India.
